Thanksgiving
I love Christmas, but I think I like Thanksgiving the best. It makes you stop and think about everything you have in your life and appreciate everything you have received. I am so very thankful for my children. They are a blessing to me and the most important thing in my life. I love and appreciate my grandmother very much. She has been very supportive and helpful to me over the years. I also have a boyfriend for which I am very thankful. He is a wonderful caring and supportive man. He cares very deeply for my children.
Families
I think families are both. Mine certainly was. I viewed my family as a functional dysfunctional family. I think mine now could be viewed the same. I think every family has a certian amount of dysfunctionality within it. I don't think being dysfunctional is neccessarily bad. I think some dysfunctionality is healthy.
Barbie Doll
I love this reading. I can apply it to my oldest daughter. She started out liking barbies, I think because she felt she was supposed to because she was a girl. As she got older I think she realized the fallacie of barbie. She took a different approach to them. She did not dress them up or comb their hair. She would instead cut off all their hair, draw tattoos on them and alter their clothing. I think she felt vindiated in the end because she is not a blue eyed blonde.
Logical fallacies
You see the ad hominem argument in political ads all the time. The attack of character of the opponet. It plants doubt in your mind about that person. This is a position I wish candidates would not use because it is detrimentaly to the person's campaign who is doing the attacking. I don't vote for someone who uses this method. It is irrelavent to the campaign.
The Case against College
I can totally relate to this essay. I have a son in the same position. He is a very smart kid but college is not in his plans right now. He is holding down a job and is very responsible. College at somepoint may be in his plans, but whatever he does I know it will be the right decision for him.
